Muhuhu- an aromatic wood with a spicy scent
We have a new timber called Muhuhu (Brachylaena hutchinsii if you're interested!)
We have it in blanks for wood turning at a bargain price- see the page here for Muhuhu bowl blanks.
Muhuhu heartwood is a darker chestnut brown, often with dark streaks and a green tinge. The grain is closely interlocked sometimes wavy or curly, with a fine even texture. The sapwood is quite distinct, being grey-white. This is an aromatic wood, with a spicy scent similar to sandal wood.
A fine finish is achievable with most tools. It sands well and is receptive to both surface and penetrative finishes.
